A BIG YES! There is absolutely no requirement to be flexible already to join this class.
One of the biggest barriers to someone joining a yoga class is down to the misconception that you need to be flexible to practice yoga or worries around being the only person who isn’t flexible. It is true that you are very likely to gain more flexibility through practicing yoga, however this is not a requirement to join.
When I began these classes, I wanted to offer something where E V E R Y O N E felt welcome to join, because there isn’t a specific ‘yoga body’ - every body is a yoga body.
Whilst this is always a work in progress for me, I hope that these classes reflect this and am always open to hearing suggestions.

If you, or someone you know, would like to start a yoga practice but have any concerns about joining a class, please get in touch and we can chat through what the barriers might be.

Whether you are completely new to yoga or have some experience I recommend to try out Level 01 first to give you the basics of breath led movement under your belt. You can do level 01 as many times as you like before moving on to level 02.
About Level 01:
A slow and gentle yoga class specifically aimed at providing a space where everyone is welcome to begin their regular yoga practice or bring their practice back-to-basics.
Each week we work through various different practices including breath-work, postures and a short guided meditation, breaking each down to really begin to unfold key yogic principals and teachings.
This class is for you if:
you’ve been thinking of starting a yoga practice but feel unsure which class to choose, or where to even begin.
you’re worried you’ll be the only one there who is a ‘beginner’ or inflexible (you really don’t need to be flexible already to practice yoga!)
you’ve tried a class and felt that you couldn’t keep up so didn’t continue.
you’ve dabbled in online yoga but never experienced an in-person class before.
you already have a regular and/or advanced practice and are looking to wind back and go back-to-basics as a refresher.
About Level 02:
Beginners Level 02 is aimed to be a natural progression from level 01.
We come together for an hour each week, working through various breath-work practices and some of the basic postures learnt in Level 01 to warm up, then we build upon this moving onto some slightly more challenging postures in a workshop style to prepare for stillness of mind and body in a guided meditation to finish.
This class is for you if:
you are completely new to yoga (but would recommend trying level 01 first).
you have some experience (perhaps on my level 02 class) and are ready to progress.
you already have a regular and/or advanced practice and are looking to wind back and go back-to-basics as a refresher.
NB. There is no requirement to already be flexible to join these classes. Wherever you are on your journey you will be welcomed whole heartedly in my yoga for beginners classes.

Courses offer a deeper dive into your yoga practice with each week building upon the last to build towards a sequence of postures called a sun salutation by the fourth week. This will provide confidence to join the regular yoga for beginners ‘drop in’ classes where you can practice the fundamentals learnt on the course.

There is no dress code, just wear anything you feel comfortable in that allows you to move freely.
We tend to practice barefoot but you are welcome to wear socks if you prefer.
Bring along something cosy to keep warm in for the end as we slow the practice down in a brief guided meditation.
-
Yoga mats and props are provided at the studio but if you have your own you are welcome to bring this. You can also bring a water bottle and towel if you like.
-
It is not recommended to eat before yoga, give yourself an hour or two to allow your body to digest.
-
Please always consult your doctor or medical practitioner before coming to a yoga class if you have an injury or illness.
-
If you are pregnant, (congratulations!) please consult your doctor or medical practitioner before going to a yoga class. This is not a pregnancy yoga class, however I can recommend some wonderful pregnancy yoga teachers, just get in touch.

Yoga is transformational. There are a myriad of benefits that I could reel off to you that yoga can offer, but from a personal perspective yoga is wonderful if you are looking to find more ease in your mind and body, and to reduce stress.
I first found a regular yoga practice through my work as an architect. I was in search of something to help reduce work related stress and anxiety that I was experiencing, which led me to the breathwork and mindful movement mediation aspect of yoga, which had a profound impact on me.
Yoga not only offered these benefits that I had been specifically searching for but I was pleased to find additional physical benefits that countered my lengthy periods sat in front of a computer screen through the mobilisation and strengthening of my body, weight loss and muscle toning.
But beyond the physical, I have discovered so much more than I could have imagined, and I can’t wait for you to begin your journey of discovery.
